Off the cusp, I receive a very vintage feel from the images from the slightly washed-in hues of the black and white. I might reference source material such as the film "Its a Wonderful Life" when analyzing how time morphs us in the end in relation to this piece. There is a clear narrative between the woman's face and how it ends up. There is not a pixel of unused space in the three panels. Everything is there for a reason, whether that be personal (reference to the Tao Te Ching in your statement) or in relation to the concept. My only irk deals with outside matters of the assignment. You were dangerously close to not finishing on time! I would be aware of time management and creating projects that can be finished within the allotted time. But you finished this just in time, and it turned out very interesting, so kudos. The use of black and white is effective, the number, quality and definition of the figures is pleasing and the textures are somehow enhanced to the point of being noticeable. One senses one is looking at jewelry. I also like the complex borders of the various objects, and the generous use of negative space. The two heads of the flanking panels are striking and set off nicely against the clock in the central panel. The use of text is sparing and effective. Very good effort.
Carl H Flygthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06496991679941123899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6938065307827680053.post-36101629903977976572012-09-09T05:03:38.853-07:002012-09-09T05:03:38.853-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Carl H Flygthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06496991679941123899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6938065307827680053.post-52934734837561411142012-09-07T21:30:42.916-07:002012-09-07T21:30:42.916-07:00The way I kind of interpreted your piece is that t...The way I kind of interpreted your piece is that through time we still remain human no matter how much we try to cheat death and that over time we will eventually die. I interpreted the words "For all time" as a meaning for how time will never stop ticking. That it will keep on making us age no matter how much we want to stop. However,I think that it is the beauty of life that we go through this cycle of living and dying, and I see that through the eyes of the people that you also have in this piece that look like they are accepting this fate without any regrets.Jenie Villanuevahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11599851152892983158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6938065307827680053.post-88067024004941762862012-09-03T22:57:16.101-07:002012-09-03T22:57:16.101-07:00I really enjoyed the thought behind this piece bec...I really enjoyed the thought behind this piece because it seems opposite of my own. I thought the idea of time passing and the beauty continuously seen was very complementary to my triptych about time and chaos. I thought it was interesting that you chose to show the images in black and white although the theme is of beauty and brilliance. I, personally, love this artistic decision because I don't believe I would have looked as closely to the pictures individually or as an entire image if it was in color. Is this why you chose the black and white?

Erin MeyeringErinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14395699372572873197noreply@blogger.com
